From Tess Konigsmark – 2011 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders
Overall, I really enjoyed myself at the NCCWSL conference. While I do a lot of activities that do involve leadership, I didn’t really think of myself as a leader. This conference was kind of like a vote of confidence. It reminded me that I am a leader and that I should think of myself as such.
My favorite event was when Shelby Knox came to speak. I had seen her documentary, and I think it’s wonderful that they were able to bring such an inspiring feminist leader to the conference. I also enjoyed the chance to explore DC with the other women I met at the conference, a few of which I’m still in contact with.
One of the most exciting outcomes of my attending NCCWSL is that I’m currently working on bringing one of the workshop presenters, Ben Privot, to speak about consent on the UConn campus. The conference was a positive experience, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to attend.
