Storrs/Willimantic BRANCH STRATEGIC GOALS: 2010-2011

THE BRANCH WILL ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE ASSOCIATION’S EQUITY MISSION:
Read the mission and vision statements at the beginning of each meeting.
Distribute copies of research findings to college and university Women’s Centers and Women’s Study Programs in our area. UCONN,ECSU and Quinebaug Valley Community College.(QVCC)
Members will lobby through e-mail, or postcard to encourage support for the Paycheck
Fairness Act and pay equity legislation.

What can the State Board do to help you achieve these goals?
Send copies of Behind the Pay Gap.

THE BRANCH WILL PROMOTE, INCREASE, AND RETAIN MEMBERSHIP:
Make College/University connection w/ Quinebaug Valley Community College.
Strive for 3-5 new members.
Encourage people to bring guests.
We have scheduled 3 meetings at different locations this year, one on a different day.
Members will help to cover memberships and dinners for those unable to pay.

THE BRANCH WILL BECOME A MORE DIVERSE MULTICULTURAL AND INCLUSIVE ORGANIZATION:
Read a story related to diversity during each meeting.
Invite college and community college women to attend meetings.
Members will help to cover memberships and dinners for those unable to pay.
Have at least one event on a weekend.
Avoid use of acronyms.
One meeting will focus on Diversity.

THE BRANCH WILL PROMOTE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:
Continue to participate in recruiting and sending High School girls to Girls State.
Recruit and send College women to National Conference of College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL)

What can the State Board do to help you achieve these goals?
Give us the opportunity to apply for a grant to support NCCWSL.

THE BRANCH WILL SUPPORT THE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FUND AND LEGAL ADVOCACY FUND:
An Educational Opportunities Fund Fellow will present her research as the program at a meeting.
Meet our goals of $25 per member for EOF.
Meet our goals of $5 per member for Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF).
