School was quite regimented when I was a child. I attended the Noble Lab School when Mr. Noble was the Principal. After Windham H.S., I went to Abbot Academy, a prep school. I graduated from Conn College in ’39 with my BA. Then I went to Simmons and NYU for a master’s degree.
I got started in retailing at the Prince School of Retailing at Simmons. I became a sales person, a supervisor and a division superintendent. I am proud of having climbed the career ladder in the field of retailing. I worked in a department store in New Haven as well as in Bloomingdale’s in NY. I also taught distributive Ed in Hamden and placed kids in stores in New Haven.
Eleanor Roosevelt was one of my great role models. I got involved in AAUW in New Haven. When I came back to Willimantic, I was very involved in the start up of the Storrs/Willimantic Branch of AAUW and served as President of the branch from1966-68.
My name is Elizabeth Jordan.
